From the Players menu, searching for or clicking on any particular Player will take you to the properties or Player Details/Record of that particular Player.
Player Details
The top of the Player Details shows the Player Action, Force Update and Screenshot buttons.
This also shows a screenshot that refreshes every 15 minutes.
The Last Health Check, Engage Channel ID, License Expiry Date and Groups information will show here as well.
Device ID / Engage Channel ID
Depending on the type of player you are installing the EngagePHD software on, you will need to use the Device ID or Channel ID to connect your player during the setup process.
Smart Displays
- LG webOS – Use Engage Channel ID
- Samsung SSP D & E Series – Use Engage Channel ID
- Samsung PMT (Tizen) – Use Engage Channel ID
External Players
- BrightSign – BrightSign players are the only supported player that does not require the Device ID or Engage Channel ID. During setup, the ‘Add Brightsign Player‘ button will be used.
- Windows Players – Use the Device ID
- Android – Use the Device ID
- IADea – Use the Device ID
- Philips – Use the Device ID
- Sharp – Use the Device ID
- Panasonic – Use the Device ID
Players Tab
1. Player Tab: This will allow you to modify settings unique to your player: Time Zone, Room (see Events), Theme, Orientation; etc..
Player Details is where you can:
- Change the Description of the player
- Time Zone (if different from the default time zone on your network (See Network Settings)
- Change the Location (See Locations)
- Postal Code (also used as part of Locations)
- Orientation
- Time to reboot player daily (reboots the player daily at this time)
- Alert when offline – When player alerts are active, you can turn reporting off for specific players
- Set tags – This is helpful when you might be using tags with Assets.
Now Showing shows details about content options. This is where you can change the:
- Theme
- Application
- Playlist
- Playlist settings for certain players
- Room
- Room Sign Display Name
- No Event Message
Layouts Tab
2. Layouts Tab: This is where you can see what Layouts you have assigned to this particular Player. You can also add additional Layouts to the Player. Assigning Layouts to a Player is important when using Themes and the Recurring Schedule. If you are simply scheduling Layouts from the ‘Schedule‘ on the Home page, there is no need to add the Layout to the Player.

3. Schedule Tab: This is where you can Schedule Actions to be performed on this particular Player.

4. Recurring Schedule Tab: Recurring Schedule allows you to schedule either: Theme Changes, Player Reboot Time, Screens Off, Screens On.

5. Screen Management Tab: If you do not want your Players (Screens) to run 24/7 you can set a weekly off/on scheduled to coincide with the days/times you want your Screens to be on. This can be set globally as well. Please also see: How Do I Set Up and Modify A Screen Management Schedule:

6. Screenshots Tab: This is where Screenshots are stored after you have performed the Action to capture the Screenshot from the ‘Player Action‘. Please also see: Confirming Content Through Screenshots:
Information Tab
7. Information Tab: The Information Tab contains lots of useful Information about the Player. In particular LG webOS, Samsung SSP, Samsung Tizen displays, Android and Windows 7, 8 and 10 players:

8. LG – The LG tab allows you to modify settings for Barcode Lift & Learn support for LG webOS: Light Sensor, Light Value and Barcode. This tab is also where you can manage On/Off Timers for LG webOS displays.
Windows Player Tab
9. Windows Player – Certain admin options can be set up for Windows based media players. Please ask your sales representative about details.
Tizen Tab
10. Tizen – The Tizen tab allows you use the Samsung Remote.
Player Action Button
Player Actions (Global): Once you have selected the required Global Player Action you can then “select all‟ or selectively choose which players you wish to Globally update:
- Theme – Choosing Theme will allow you to change the Theme running on all of the selected Players. Once you choose this Action simply select the Theme you require and then the Players you want to update.
- Refresh Content – This will Refresh the content that is running. An Action that is rarely required.
- Screenshot – Subject to supported Hardware (currently LG webOS and Samsung SSP) this will pull back a Screenshot and create a date/time stamped entry in the Audits section of the Player record.
- On – This will turn the selected Players on. Note: if the IR remote control is used to Turn Off the LG webOS or Samsung SSP display, this feature will not work until the display is turned back on with the IR remote control.
- Off – This will turn the selected Players off. Reboot Player – This will reboot the Player.
- Firmware – This will update the Firmware to the latest version. Only supported and relevant to LG webOS and Samsung SSP displays.
- Time To Reboot Player Daily – Allows you to define a time for a daily reboot of the Player.
- Screen Management – Allows you to define a weekly On/Off schedule for the Players. Please see: How Do I Set Up and Modify A Screen Management Schedule
- Channel – Allows you to change channels on Samsung SSP displays that have a built in quam tuner.
- TV Source – Allows you to change the source on Samsung SSP displays.
9. Player Actions (Individual): Similar to Global Actions, you are simply performing required Actions on a Player by Player basis. This can be done by either clicking the drop down in line with the Player on the Players menu or when in the Player record:
Advanced Player Settings
Last health check – This is the last date and time the player checked in with the EngagePHD software.
Description – This is the name or description of the player. This will be visible from the main Players page and Dashboard.
Time Zone – If set to default, the player will follow the Network default time zone. If there are players that are not in the same time zone as the default, this can be set specific to the location of the player.
Location – This works with the ‘Locations’ module based on the locations you define.
Postal Code – A postal code can be defined for each player to narrow down its location.
Room – When using the ‘Events’ module, the Room names will be associated with each player to determine where specific event information will display.
Playlist – This drop down will allow you to assign a Playlist to the player instead of using the ‘Schedule’ from the Home page.
Playlist Width (px) – In cases where you need a playlist to display at a certain resolution, you can adjust the Width in pixels.
Playlist Height (px) – In cases where you need a playlist to display at a certain resolution, you can adjust the Height in pixels.
Playlist Mode – The playlist mode allows for seamless playback of playlists with video content. This feature should only be used for Samsung SSP D and E series, and LG webOS players.
Application – This tells the player which Touchscreen Application to use. Currently, Touchscreen Applications cannot be scheduled through the ‘Schedule’ section of the software.
Orientation – This defines the screen orientation for Landscape or Portrait.
Backlight (Samsung Only) – Adjusts the backlight for Samsung models.
Android Scale – This allows you to turn content scaling on or off for Android players.
Android Video Mode – Video mode allows you to use the native video player on your Android player, or HTML 5 video player.
Lamp Schedule (Tizen) – You can define a specific on and off lamp schedule for Tizen backlights.
Screenshot Mode – This allows you to adjust screenshot alert settings.
Time to reboot player daily – This option tells the player to reboot at a specific time each day.
Alert when offline – When offline player Alerts are active, you can tell certain players not to be included in the alerts when this box is unchecked.
Tags – You can define specific Asset Tags for individual players.
